Our Pakistani Refugee Family Are On Their Way!

We are so excited to share that we received official word on Monday morning that the refugee family we have sponsored to Canada is on their way! Since spring of 2019 the Soul Sanctuary community has been working towards sponsoring a refugee family (Mother, Father, Daughter (11), Son (10)) from Pakistan. This family of four has escaped religious persecution in Pakistan and has been living in East Asia where they were being unofficially supported by a local church community in their region.

We have received very limited notice of their arrival and will be welcoming them to Winnipeg on the night of January 13. Our committee has quickly come together to prepare to welcome them, but there is lots to do and we need your help.

How You Can Help

  • Winter outerwear and warm clothing for all family members is needed. Our winter weather is going to be quite a shock for them. Contact us if you can provide any of these items.
[sizes are included in the items checklist]

  • Household and furniture items have been collected for this family, but we are still looking for a few things. View the items checklist to see if you can possibly provide any of these items.
[items can be dropped off at 2050 Chevrier]

  • Physical support for the family like taking them to various appointments, showing them around their neighbourhood, showing them where to go/what to do in Canada. Contact us if you’d like to get involved in this way.

  • We have a temporary home for the family while they quarantine, but are looking for a permanent home for them to move into by February. If you know of an affordable apartment/townhouse/house for rent in the west/south-central area of the city, close to schools and amenities, please let us know.

  • Join us in prayer for this family as they begin a lengthy journey to get here and as they settle into their new lives in Canada.

  • Donations towards the purchase of any household or personal necessities are also welcome.
