Soul Devotional - June 3, 2014

"As they were crossing the lake, Jesus warned them, 'Watch out! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and of Herod.' At this they began to argue with each other because they hadn’t brought any bread. Jesus knew what they were saying, so he said, 'Why are you arguing about having no bread? Don’t you know or understand even yet? Are your hearts too hard to take it in? ‘You have eyes—can’t you see? You have ears—can’t you hear?’ Don’t you remember anything at all?" - Mark 8:15-18

The other morning I was going to the car, and the jogging club ran by, as it often does. I had a coffee in hand and I joked with them to "do a lap for me." They laughed and the leader said only if everyone gets a coffee. I said sure and we all laughed and they kept running. The last two guys in the pack where running together, and they each held on to a plastic rope. I looked , and thought it odd, until I realized that the last man was blind, and the first man guided him. Whichever way he went, the blind man went and had to trust his guide. 

So often we are like the disciples, Jesus is trying to tell us something, convey a message, or  teach us an important truth and we miss it  as we focus on the physical, and not the deeper meaning of what we reading or seeing. We must allow God to guide us like the blind runner. Our world is blind to the truth of God, and we are to help it see the truth. The spirit of a God will guide us as we live our lives for Jesus and do our best to make disciples as we go.

God knows where he is going! We must follow and bring others with us.
