School of Ministry: Work as Worship

Avodah ( in Hebrew: ֲעבוֹ ָדה ), means "work, worship, and service." Today, it refers to business-type activities, it can also mean agricultural work and, more traditionally, serving God. At Soul Sanctuary we believe that the message of Jesus if for everyone, as such, we choose to follow Christ’s command to be his witnesses in Jerusalem (our cities), in Judea and Samaria (our regions), and to the ends of the earth (our world).

For many years missions work in the church has been more focused on “the ends of the earth” than on our “Jerusalem.” Our “Jerusalem” represents our immediate community, society, our city and workplace. Our work is to be worship unto God (Psalm 24:3-5). Our Work is Worship course presents you with an opportunity to minister without money or travel. It prepares you for opportunities to minister to others outside the walls of the church building, especially in your workplace, that is, bringing Jesus into your work life in a respectful manner.

Together you’ll adopt and understanding of the need to bring Christ into your work life, an awareness that we are all called to minister to our community in different ways and seek its transformation for good. You’ll begin to understanding that you can influence other people towards a relationship with God without explicitly being preachy or weird. We invite you to join us as we learn to worship through out work.

This class will run for four consecutive Sundays (March 15, 22, 29 and April 5) and is open to anyone who desires to understand the role and purpose of their faith in their workplace.

Location: Conference Room (2nd Floor, in the Office Wing).
Time: 11:11am, children are welcome to attend Soul Kids Jr, Soul Kids or YOUNG LIFE while you participate in this course.
