5 Things from 2019 Worth Celebrating

2019 has been an exciting year here at Soul Sanctuary, together we have seen God’s goodness and faithfulness on full display! Here are five things that happened in 2019 that we can’t help but celebrate together.

1. together We GAVE over $100,000 towards our missions partners.

In 2019 we contributed over $100,000 towards our short-term and long-term missions projects and partners. A part of our missions giving included a pilot trip to Ukraine in July where seven people from our community taught English at a camp organized by the Ukrainian Assemblies of God, our partners. This trip has opened the door for more short-term trips to Ukraine, including a hockey team outreach in March 2020, a cultural outreach through the Soul Sanctuary Internship in May 2020 and another trip back to teach at the same English camp in July 2020. If you’re interested in joining our July 2020 short term mission, click here to RSVP to our interest meeting.

Other recipients of missions funding in 2019 included Titus Graham (Living Word Temple Winnipeg), Bonnie & Evan Falk (Wycliffe Bible Translators), All Hands Held (Kenya), All Hands Held (Indonesia), ARC Canada, Russian Assemblies of God, Home of the Good Shepherd (Brazil) and the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada.

2. together we Sponsored 160 Children through World Vision Canada.

On September 29 we partnered with World Vision Canada to host Chosen Sunday. Instead of choosing a child to sponsor, people from the Soul Sanctuary community agreed to allow children in Kenya to choose who they’d like to sponsor them. On Chosen Sunday we saw 160 children sponsored, to add to the 130 already sponsored children from the Soul community.

Soul Sanctuary is a church of about 600 people, together we sponsor over 290 kids in Kenya through World Vision. We believe that we can make a difference and the giving habits of our community reflect that.

3. Together We built a multi purpose children’s ministry space with a long-term tenant.

In summer 2019 we began construction on a new multipurpose Children’s Ministry space on the main floor of our facility. The project divided our Soul Kids Jr. space into three main classrooms and installed bathrooms, a washer/dryer, an administrative office and a play-structure outside. To fund the project we welcomed NOVA Montessori Preschool as a Monday-Friday tenant in the space.

4. Together we launched the Soul Sanctuary Internship Program to Develop Church Leaders.

In September 2019 we launched the Soul Sanctuary Internship Program which seeks to raise up church leaders who are passionate about the mission of Jesus and the love of God. In its first year the program welcomed six interns and a part-time staff director. This program has also solidified a relationship with Providence University College and Seminary who teaches our interns and community members accredited courses out of our facility in South Winnipeg.

We’re already accepting applications for the 2020-2021 academic year, check it out.

5. Together we saw over 40 people complete Growth Track.

Growth Track is the next step for anyone looking to further their involvement in the Soul Sanctuary community. This year we saw over forty people enroll and complete the course. Growth track is a guide for community members to learn about the history and operations of Soul Sanctuary, to discover their gifting in Christ and to have their personal leadership developed. If you’re looking for a way to get connected in the life of the Soul Community, Growth Track is your next step, our next session runs in January and you can register below.

Looking Ahead to 2020

As we look ahead to 2020 we’re excited for everything God will continue to do through our community. We believe that Soul Sanctuary will continue to be used to impact Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and the world at large. We want to invite you to contribute to the future of Soul Sanctuary by giving a year-end gift. All donations received by December 31, 2019 will appear on your 2019 Charitable Giving Statement.
