Psalm 22:27-28

"All the ends of the earth shall remember
    and turn to the Lord,
and all the families of the nations
   shall worship before you.
For kingship belongs to the Lord,
and he rules over the nations."

Today we remember those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. For believers, a ceremony of remembrance is familiar; we observe one each time we receive the bread and the wine.

Do not be afraid to show solemn thankfulness to those brothers and sisters that have emulated our Saviour in this way. As Jesus said, no one has greater love than the one who lays down his life for his friends.

Let the day and its memories remind you also of him whose sacrificial death accomplished everything spoken of in this Psalm.
